Compaq Presario CQ56-219WM XP Drivers

by getdeclue on October 4, 2011

Its great when manufactuers include drivers for Windows XP on a system that came with a different OS. If you are looking for the drivers for Windows XP you can find them here:

Before attempting to install a new OS I recommend documenting what sata controller the computer has by checking device manager. HP does not provide a version of HP Quicklaunch that works with this model, I recommend adjusting the brightness of the screen to max while running the preinstalled windows 7 OS as I was not able to use those buttons and I am not aware of any other method of changing the brightness once Windows XP is installed.

HP’s site lacks instructions on how to actually install Windows XP on these systems and since there is no way to disable AHCI in the bios you will need to slip stream the correct intel f6 driver ( your Windows XP CD or put them on a floppy disk and push f6 while the OS is loading. I used nlite ( to slip stream my Windows XP CD to include the Intel f6 drivers.

Update: I later found that you need use version from Intel because only that version works as f6 drivers and with nlite.  More info specifically can be found here:
