Dell Dimension 3000 audio not working

Windows XP automatically installed the audio device in a dell dimension 3000 as the vinyl ac’97 codec combo driver (wdm) but the audio would not work right at all. Downloading the driver from dell’s support site fixed the problem: click here to download the driver.
