Outlook 2013 crashes/closes after 1 minute

by getdeclue on November 15, 2013

If you are using outlook 2013 with exchange and you check the application log in event view and find that OLMAPI32.DLL is causing outlook to crash after one minute you may need to uninstall the following two updates:

KB2837618
KB2837643

After uninstalling these two updates outlook 2013 may continue to crash after 1 minute with the same error message. If this continues reinstall office 2013 apply all patches except KB2837618, and KB2837643. Outlook will no longer crash.

I noticed that if the last date modified on OLMAPI32.DLL is 10/17/2013 then outlook will crash. If the date is 9/13/2013 it will not crash.

Compton P-ESL Online Practice no audio playback fix

by getdeclue on October 8, 2013

If you are using Compton P-ESL Online practice and you click on the words but have no audio playback in your speakers or headphones you will need to connect a microphone. After diagnosing this problem for a while I found that the audio playback does not detect your sound card correctly unless you have a microphone.

Windows 7 Intel 82865G Graphics Driver

by getdeclue on October 4, 2013

A computer with this graphics card will only typically support 32bit windows and this solution will only work for 32 bit operating systems.
Intel shows the 82865g graphics as being end of support and therefore does not offer a windows 7 driver for this graphics chipset.
To fix this problem download the windows xp driver from Intel’s website and run the installer, you may get an error that this operating system is not supported. If you get the error hold down the windows key and push the letter r on the keyboard in the run window type %temp% run the installer again and copy the newly created folder out of the temp folder this will contain the driver. Point windows device manager to this folder to install the graphics driver.

Flip Mino Won’t Turn On Fix

by getdeclue on October 1, 2013

If you have a Flip Mino that will not turn on, its probably not broken. It may not even need a new battery. There is a reset switch in the mounting slot on the bottom, a small paperclip will fit inside. Try pushing it a couple times and then connect it to a USB port to charge. You may need to push the reset button 4 or 5 times. If it does turn on but shows a black screen with a bunch of diagnostic information push the reset button again to change to normal boot.

After a user logs in for the first time on a computer if they open word 2013, click insert and then click online pictures a pop up is displayed “Sorry, we are having some temporary server issues” in researching this error I found this a page on the blog angrytechnician referenced many times. I found the computers the computers I was experiencing the same error message did not have the same problem. The Angry Technician references a registry key and deleting it fixes the problem however on my computers they did not have the full registry key, the key:  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Internet\ did not even exist in the registry. The folder C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OFFICE\15.0\WebServiceCache\AllUsers\office15client.microsoft.com did not exist either.

The ultimate solution I found was that every time a new user logs in they just need to launch internet explorer once while no office 2013 programs are open and the key, folder and files will be automatically created when the user opens an office 2013 program.

Adobe Reader 11 Import Trusted Certificates Prompt

by getdeclue on September 24, 2013

When you upgrade Adobe Reader from 9 or 10 (X) to 11 (XI) you may be prompted “Trusted certificates from your previous version of Adobe Reader were found. Would you like to import them?” To avoid this prompt you can add two registry keys that will automatically import the trusted certificates the keys to set are as follows:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\Security\cDigSig\cAdobeDownload

bAskBeforeInstalling REG_DWORD 0x1
bLoadSettingsFromURL REG_DWORD 0x0

There was some documentation that mentioned you may need to set the key iCheckEvery but in my testing it was not necessary.

On booting a computer with a previous fan failure the computer always posts at the bios showing: “Alert Previous Fan Failure press F1 to continue.” its not very apparent how to remove this on start-up. To clear the message push f2 on startup to open setup utility scroll down to the bottom select System Event Log push enter, choose mark all entries as read and then push enter.
