I’m not sure why but recently I have encountered a few brother network printers that the network adapter appeared to have stopped working. Luckily the printer has a reset for the network adapter.
- Turn off the printer.
- Make sure the front cover is closed and the power cord is plugged in.
- Hold down the GO button as you turn on the power switch. First all the LED’s will light up and then the STATUS LED will turn off. Release the GO button and the LED’s will turn off.
- Slowly press the GO button six times. Make sure that all the LED’s light up to indicate the Network Card has been reset to its factory default settings
Resetting the Network Card back to its default settings will reset all information including password and IP address

We have quite a few of these and the problem is with the design of the printer. Brother has deemed it a good idea that if the GO button is held down for more than 10 seconds, then the wired network settings are cleared out and the printer defaults to wireless printing. Brother ALSO deemed it a good idea to put the GO button on top of the printer – where anything placed on top of the printer can push the GO button down for more than 10 seconds. (See where I’m going on this?) Books, a ream of paper, leaning on the printer with your hand, anything like that on top of these printers will reset your network settings.
